The Barron Collier boys lacrosse team spent Week 2 focused on sharpening their skills and building team chemistry. While there were no games this week, the team made the most of multiple practice sessions and a special photo shoot organized by Natalie Klas. This pause in competition allowed players and coaches to regroup and prepare for a busy week ahead, with several important games on the schedule.

Week 2 Practice Highlights
Without games to play, the team focused on intensive practice sessions. Coaches emphasized fundamentals, conditioning, and teamwork. Players worked on passing accuracy, defensive positioning, and offensive strategies. The drills were designed to simulate game situations, helping the team stay sharp and ready.
The coaching staff also used this time to evaluate individual progress and identify areas for improvement. This approach ensures that each player contributes effectively during upcoming matches. The team’s commitment during practice showed strong discipline and a clear desire to improve.
On Saturday, a few of Barron Collier’s long-stick defenders gathered at Community School of Naples for a focused, player-led practice to sharpen defensive fundamentals and strengthen on-field communication. The session emphasized footwork, approach angles, slide-and-recover concepts, and clearing efficiency. The collaborative atmosphere allowed players to take ownership of their development, reinforcing accountability and leadership within the defensive unit as they continue preparing for upcoming matchups.
Photo Shoot Experience
A standout event this week was the photo shoot that captured the energy, camaraderie, and pride of the 2026 Cougars squad. The event was thoughtfully organized by Natalie Klas, mother of team captain Brett Klas, whose dedication and attention to detail created a memorable experience for our players. From coordinating logistics to ensuring every athlete had the opportunity to shine, Natalie’s efforts helped transform the session into more than just a photo day; it became a team-building moment that reflected the strong support system surrounding the program.
Professional photographer Mark Schoenfelt of Mark Schoenfelt Photography led the session, bringing his expertise and creative vision to produce high-quality images that showcase the team’s competitive spirit and unity. Utilizing a variety of poses, lighting techniques, and action-inspired concepts, Schoenfelt captured both individual personality and collective team identity. The resulting images will be featured on senior banners and promotional platforms throughout the season, helping tell the story of Barron Collier Lacrosse while highlighting the community partnership that continues to elevate the Cougars experience. What’s Coming Up Next Week
The upcoming week promises to be action-
packed for the Barron Collier boys lacrosse teams. The varsity squad is set to face three challenging opponents:
Palmetto Ridge
Lely (HOME)
Community School of Naples
Each game will test the varsity team’s skills and teamwork. These matches are crucial for establishing early-season momentum and setting the tone for the rest of the year.
Meanwhile, the junior varsity team has a busy schedule as well. They will play a game against Community School of Naples on Friday. Following that, they will participate in a round robin event at Immokalee High School. During this event, the JV team will face:
Palmer Trinity School
Gulf Coast High School
This round robin format offers multiple opportunities for the JV players to gain experience and showcase their development. It also allows coaches to assess the team’s strengths and weaknesses in a competitive setting.

Preparing for the Week Ahead
The coaching staff is focusing on maintaining the team’s physical fitness and mental readiness. Practices will continue to emphasize game-like scenarios, communication, and quick decision-making. Players are encouraged to watch college lacrosse games and work on individual skills outside of team sessions.
The team’s leadership is also fostering a positive mindset, reminding players that every game is an opportunity to learn and grow. This approach helps reduce pressure and keeps the focus on steady improvement.
How Fans Can Support the Team
Community support plays a big role in the team’s morale. Fans are encouraged to attend the upcoming games and cheer on both varsity and junior varsity squads. Showing up at the fields boosts player confidence and creates an exciting atmosphere.
Following the team’s progress on social media and sharing updates also helps spread the word about their hard work. Supporting local sports strengthens the connection between the school and the community.
