Varsity Team Week 3 Performance

The varsity team played three games this week against Palmetto Ridge High School, Lely High School, and Community School of Naples. Each game brought different challenges and showcased the team's strengths and resilience.

Game 1: Barron Collier vs. Palmetto Ridge High School (February 23, 2026)

Barron Collier continued its strong start to the 2026 season with an impressive road victory over Palmetto Ridge on February 23, posting an 18-2 win behind a balanced offensive attack and disciplined defensive play. The Cougars established control early by dominating possession and creating consistent scoring opportunities, allowing them to steadily extend their lead throughout the contest. Equally impressive was Barron Collier’s defensive performance, as the Cougars limited Palmetto Ridge to just five shots on goal, showcasing organized team defense, effective communication, and strong goaltending that prevented the Bears from developing offensive rhythm.

Several Cougars delivered standout performances to power the victory, led by Player of the Game Jacob Shanahan, whose four goals and three assists sparked the Barron Collier offense. Senior Jordan Cross added four goals and an assist to anchor the attack, while senior Mason Goldie contributed four goals to highlight the Cougars’ scoring depth. Junior Ian Psota recorded two goals and two assists in a strong all-around performance, and additional goals from Charlie Martin, Cole Turner, Brendan Burns, and Parker Ivan showcased balanced production across the roster. Barron Collier dominated possession at the faceoff and generated consistent offensive pressure, resulting in an 18-goal team performance and a comprehensive team victory over the Bears as the Cougars continue to build momentum and set a positive tone for the rest of the week.

Game 2: Barron Collier vs. Lely High School (February 25, 2026)

Barron Collier continued its strong 2026 campaign with a convincing 14-3 victory over Lely at home on February 25. The Cougars controlled the tempo from start to finish, converting opportunities on offense while maintaining defensive discipline to keep the Trojans off the scoreboard throughout much of the contest. Barron Collier’s balanced attack and all-around team effort were key in building and sustaining the lead.

Barron Collier’s scoring was spread across several contributors. Senior Jordan Cross led the charge with 4 goals and 1 assist, showcasing his scoring prowess and playmaking ability. Brett Klas also delivered a strong performance, tallying 2 goals and 2 assists, and Mason Goldie added 2 goals and 2 assists as part of a dynamic offensive showing. Cole Turner chipped in 2 goals and an assist, while Jacob Shanahan recorded 2 goals and 1 assist, and both Ian Psota and Luca Capron found the back of the net to round out the team’s production.

Beyond offensive contributions, Barron Collier’s ground ball and possession play helped fuel transition opportunities. Players like Cross, Klas, Turner, Brendan Burns, Jake Dancer, and Nick Gale were active in the fielding game, helping the Cougars secure extra possessions and stifle Lely’s offensive chances. Barron Collier also saw strong faceoff work from Jake Dancer, giving the offense repeated opportunities to dictate play.

Overall, Barron Collier’s 14-goal output, efficient ball movement, and defensive effort helped the Cougars secure another solid win as they build toward the remainder of their season.

Game 3: Barron Collier vs. Community School of Naples (February 27, 2026)

Barron Collier faced a tough road test at Community School of Naples on Friday, February 27, falling 18-6 in a non-conference contest. The Barron Collier offense showed flashes of production throughout the game, but the Seahawks controlled the momentum and pace en route to the decisive victory. Despite the loss, several Cougars made noteworthy contributions in a hard-fought effort.

Barron Collier’s scoring attack was evenly spread out, with the scoring started by Brendan Burns. Additional goals were scored by Brett Klas, Jordan Cross, Ian Psota, Cole Turner, and Charlie Martin. Freshman Jack Ricciardelli also had a strong night, winning 8 faceoffs.

Although Barron Collier was outpaced on the scoreboard, the Cougars continued to exhibit resilience and teamwork. The offense generated looks and fought for possessions, and several players made key plays that will serve the team well as they continue their 2026 season. Consistent effort from Barron Collier’s core contributors highlights the depth the team is building as they prepare for future matchups.

Junior Varsity Team Week 3 Recap

The junior varsity team had a busy schedule with one game against Community School of Naples on Friday and a round robin event on Saturday at Immokalee High School.

Barron Collier’s Junior Varsity team showed tremendous grit and resilience this past weekend as they competed in three games over two days while playing with limited numbers. On Friday, the Cougars faced Community School of Naples with just 13 available players, battling through fatigue against a squad that was able to rotate fresh legs throughout the contest. Despite the loss, the JV team demonstrated heart, discipline, and a willingness to compete every minute on the field. With minimal substitutions available, players were forced to take extended shifts, gaining valuable experience and continuing to build chemistry under challenging circumstances.

The challenge continued Saturday during a round-robin event, where the Cougars suited up only 12 players for two additional matchups against Aubrey Rogers and Immokalee High School. Facing teams with full benches, Barron Collier fell to Aubrey Rogers but regrouped and responded with a hard earned victory over Immokalee to close out the day on a high note. The team’s effort, conditioning, and mental toughness were on full display as they pushed through exhaustion and adversity. Competing shorthanded all weekend, the JV Cougars proved that resilience and teamwork can overcome obstacles, laying a strong foundation for continued growth as the season progresses.

Showing Up and Representing the Team the Right Way

Showing up for your team means more than just being present at practice or on game day. It means being dependable, prepared, and fully committed to the group’s success. Every time we step onto the field, wear our school colors, or represent our program in the community, we are part of something bigger than ourselves. Teams are built on trust, and trust is earned through consistency. When teammates know they can count on you to give your best effort, maintain a positive attitude, and support one another, it strengthens the entire program. Showing up also means embracing your role, encouraging others, and understanding that even the smallest actions can have a lasting impact on team culture.

Representing the team in a positive way extends beyond the scoreboard. It includes how we treat opponents, officials, classmates, teachers, and members of the community. Character is revealed in moments of adversity just as much as in moments of victory. Competing with integrity, responding to challenges with composure, and demonstrating respect in everything we do reflects the values of our program. When we carry ourselves with pride and accountability, we elevate not only our team but also our school and community. True success is measured not only by wins and losses, but by the example we set every day.
